Depression

All of us will go through periods when we feel low but Depression is more than this, feelings of persistent low mood or sadness will last for weeks if not months. It is not something that can not be snapped out of; you cannot simply pull yourself together. Depression ranges from mild depression to severe depression accompanied with psychotic episodes.

Anxiety

Everyone has feelings of anxiety at certain times in their life which is perfectly normal e.g. attending court or coming into prison for the first time. Those suffering from anxiety have difficulties managing worrying thoughts which has a debilitating affect on their life.

Self Harm

Many people cope with difficulties or distress in their lives in ways which are harmful to themselves. Some people drink too much, others make themselves ill through overwork or worry. Many people smoke, drive too fast, gamble or to other socially acceptable things which are risky or harmful to themselves.
